Coigach

Another early start for the big Ben! The climb up was mammoth but then we did 4 further climbs in a horse shoe before tricky descent.  The views were amazing at 743 metres but almost no one else up there. Back down at about 4 30 for a feet dip in the stream and then anothet mega meal.
Much steadier day in Ulapool on Wednesday for a fish and chip lunch.
Thursday and the weather broke over night but by 11 back to sunshine and a coastal walk taking in our first otter sighting and stumbling over a ctop of seals right next to shore. Finished off on beach for Boules won by men this time. Last night and Carol has createf fish curry with a catch of freah langoustin s from local shop.

Ullapool

Drove to remote Tarbut and caught crossing to Handa Island for a 3 hour circular walk and bird watching. Staryed in dry finished in wet -seems to be the mantra for this holiday but scenery is spectacular.  Eventually decided back to civilisation in Ulapool. Rained all night but we had a good walk up hill, boat trip and swim in local pool- what bliss-warm! Now the comfort break!

Durness

Weather constantly windy but intermittent rain didn't stop intrepid explorers from a 5 miles walk to point,
Smoo cave walk and watching fantastic white waves crash a few feet below us. Drove to
Kinlochbervir and watched 2 adult and  a young seal from the car window, very close.
The weather got to us so in the morn we packed ip in the cold, wind and rain.

Moving on

Packed up the tent in the rain moving on to the east.  A short walk in the rain to take a look at glenfinnan viaduct. Two new tyres and two new boots for nicky then up caladonian to rspb loch ruffin. Set up tent at dornoch , very pretty, madonna fame. A wet sunday,  short walk to big burn, then a nosey round dunrobin castle. Drove down loch fleet going back, watching osprey and others for a good hour.
Rspb forsinard was a moor land peat bog, would have been lovely on a nice summers day,  must come back sometime.
Followed the coast road then stopped at Durness,   putting the tent up was a wet challenge but the white horses were magnificent.  Hope for better weather tomorrow.

Eigg

Camusdarach camp site has been good for these three nights.  A bit dearer at £25 /night, killin was £10 / night but we had to pay  20 pence for each shower. Sheerwater the ferry, now is fixed with a new engine so off we went over to Eigg this morn. An hour and half to get to the top of Sgurr. That left us plenty of time to have a drink and cake before our return.

Malaig

Called at green wellie shop then headed to malaig. The 2 minute walk back to the car was enough to give us a soaking and then for the rest of the evening on  off.
Ramble along coast followed by pasta in our tent.  Two walks from arisaig fab views, tough going through the bracken but made it back. Supper in malaig, masive langoustin.

Did lovely walk to loch first then 1 mile climb to high point over loch. All this after setting up tent. Next day longer walk and canoe on loch. Rain stopped an we set off up coast towards Mallaigh. The route is beautiful. Will camp by  beach hopefully and get ferry Skye in couple of days.
Sat in the tea room with cream scone in front of a real coal fire - August.

Ed festival

Arrived in Edinburgh just as the scotch mist started.   So watched a big procession with all the different tartans before some street theatre, then heavy scotch mist. Dodged the worst in cafe's and comedy shows. Great day then back to the tent in lauder. The rain carried on till we decided to get up after a long lie in, 6:45 :-(

Loch tay

Moved north today, cup of tea at loch leven rspb. Then on to killen, dochart falls impressive.
